Our Journey into Rongoā Māori
This course has been developed over 20 years of sharing Māori Healing Philosophy and Practices with people in New Zealand and across the world.
Our approach is to fuse technology with our wānanga (learning) spaces to bring you on a virtual workshop like what we frequently run here in Aotearoa. For that reason our course is filmed during an actual workshop, as you will see with the kōrero, imagery and sound. This is important to get a sense of how it is in person as we learn of traditional healing practices bringing the environment and me into your home.
Donna Kerridge (Ngāti Tahinga, Ngāti Mahuta) is the founder and director of Ora New Zealand. She is a rongoā Māori practitioner, trainer and advocate of 20+years to a number of organizations.
Donna enjoys inspiring others to learn and put into practice the simple yet profound healing wisdom of our ancestors in a way that is respectful, authentic and mindful of the needs of all peoples and especially those of our relatives in the natural world.
She currently serves on a number expert advisory groups representing the practice of rongoā;
- Rongoā advisor on the University of Auckland School of Nursing Te Arai Kaumatua Advisory
- Kaihautū Rongoā for Nga Toki Whakarururanga, a mediation mandated organization established to ensure that New Zealand international trade agreements advance and protect Māori interests in accordance with the rights and responsibilities assigned under the Treaty of Waitangi.
- Advisory Council for the Global Compassion Coalition, an organisation committed to building a world where people and planet are valued and cared for.
- Elder Council for the Wellbeing Project, a global coalition advancing social and environmental change

Module 1 - Get Started
Meet your teacher, how the course is designed and our community Our Marae Space.
Module 2 - Key Te Ao Māori Concepts
In this module we are introduced into key Te Ao Māori concepts and the matauranga (knowledge) that they are wrapped in.
Module 3 - One Healer's Perspective
In this module I share what Rongoā Māori means to me personally.
Module 4 - Learning the Language of the Land
In this module you will discover how we can learn and use the language of the land to restore balance in the natural world, ourselves and our communities. Nothing exists in Isolation, therefore nothing can thrive in isolation.
Module 5 - Getting to know the Natives
The foundations have been laid in our previous modules, so that you are safe and ready to be introduced to some of our rongoā Māori healing plants native to Aotearoa, New Zealand.
Module 6 - Wrap up
Here we review what you have learnt and other ways you can continue your learning journey.
